When I first discovered the Instagram account called @californiasurffishing, I could not believe my eyes when I saw all the big fish that Gary and Kaspar were catching. I reached out to introduce myself in hopes that maybe we could someday go fishing together. I can't express my gratitude enough for what happened next. Gary and I met up just before sunrise, at a Santa Barbara beach. To say the least, the halibut were biting! Between the two of us, we landed 18 fish. I had recently decided to start fishing with the Battlestar 115 Jerkbait exclusively. Just to get lots of experience with it, make observations, and test it out. Well, the bait passed my test with flying colors. It just kept getting slammed. Usually, on the pause. I caught fish after fish on that same bait all day long. This was an outstanding first day of fishing, one of many that will see happen in future episodes, as it was also the beginning of an outstanding friendship with the Kazazian twins who remain some of my best fishing buddies to this day.
